Private Chat Rooms
Make a password-protected room for your group, or message anyone one-to-one.
Start chatting now →Want a space that is just for your people? Shush is a free, anonymous, text-only chat-room site you can use right now in your browser — no signup, no email, no app to download. In one click you can create a private, password-protected room — only people you share the password with can get in.
Prefer a quieter conversation? Click anyone online to start a private one-to-one message instead. Either way, you control who is in the conversation. Private rooms are temporary by design, so they are great for a quick get-together rather than a permanent group.
What you get
Pick a nickname and you are in — no email or phone.
No real name, no profile to fill in.
Join the Lobby, or create your own public or password-protected room.
Click anyone online and start a one-to-one DM — you choose who.
Runs in any browser on phone, tablet and desktop.
Simple, fast, distraction-free messaging.
Two ways to keep it private
Create a room, set a password, share it with your group.
Message a single person privately, away from the room.
How to start chatting
- Pick a nickname. No account, no email — just a name to go by (you confirm you are 18+).
- Land in the Lobby. You arrive in the always-on public room and can see who is online now.
- Join, create, or DM. Open a room someone has started, create your own public or private room, or message anyone one-to-one.
Anonymous, but kept civil
Shush is for adults (18+). You stay anonymous — no personal details are required — and you can block anyone you do not want to hear from. To keep the rooms safe, a platform admin may review messages; there are no claims of end-to-end privacy here, so chat accordingly. Private rooms add a password so only people you share it with can get in.
